Frequently Asked Questions
Calvary Chapel Anaheim Hills (CCAH)
Q 1. How many members registered at CCAH?
A 1. We don't know because every week new comer(s) registers as member(s) of CCAH. Also we don't care about the numbers of the registered members because the Lord has added them to CCAH so far, when CCAH continues teaching, fellowship, communion, and prayers. But CCAH does care about each soul.
Acts 2:42 "And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers." Acts 2:47b "...And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved."Matthew 16:26 "For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
Q 2. What CCAH & CCB each stands for?
A 2. CCB stands for "Christian Character Builder," which was formed as a fellowship to be just like Jesus at Anaheim Hills in 1997. CCAH stands for "Calvary Chapel of Anaheim Hills," which was named and recognized as a member by Calvary Chapel Outreaching Fellowships (CCOF) in 2004. So, now both CCAH and CCB are officially used, registered exclusively as a California NonProfit Corporation.
Q 3. Is CCAH an English speaking Church or a Korean speaking Church?
A 3. Both. Although CCAH was initially planted by Korean speaking people, God has added more English speaking people to CCAH. We have close fellowship, have prayed for each other, have same Sunday messages, and often together "quaterally services," "retreats," "mission trips," etc. Also, Spanish speaking ministry is recently open. CCAH has no distinction among races but languages. CCAH simply is not an ethnic church but the Lord's church, and so we don't know how in particular the Lord is leading CCAH but only He knows all things.
Romans 10: 12 "For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him."
Q 4. What the Bible is used as a textbook?
A 4. For English teaching, King James Version(KJV) or New King James Version(NKJV) is used because KJV/NKJV is mostly close to the original Bible (written in Hebrew for OT and in Greek for NT). But the orginal Bible & other versions (NIV, NASB, Living Bible, etc.) are used as references.
For Korean teaching, a traditional translation version is used although the orginal Bible or KJV is often cited.
Q 5. How do you teach?
A 5. The entire Bible itself as a textbook is used. Its teaching is verse by verse inductive expository as accurately as possible, to the original Bible or God's heart, whatever called tradionally bible study, discipleship, or any fancy words. Other theology books or Christian books or anything else are used merely as references, neither above nor even equal to the Bible itself. Sometimes examples are given for sole purpose to understand, not to please men.
Acts 20:27 "For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God."
Deteronomy 4:2 "You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you."
2 Corinthians 10:5 "Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of God."
Q 6. What kinds of ministries does CCAH supply?
A 6. CCAH (Very members of the Body of Christ) as a local church of One Church on the Earth is just following the Spirit's direction. So far Rosarito Mexico Mission Trip, Scotland Mission Trip, Uganda Mission, Italy Mission, Dumaguete Philippines Mission Trip, Sudan Mission, Iraq Mission, France Mission, North Korea Mission, Kenya Mission Trip, Preschool & Kindergarten Ministry, Calvary Chapel Conference Twin Peaks Retreat, Calvary Chapel Conference Murrieta Retreat, Temecula Retreat, Community Outreaching, Santa Ana Homeless Ministry, Prayer Support Group, Music Ministry, Education Ministry (EM Sunday School), Email Ministry, Mail Ministry, and so on have been supplied.
Romans 8:14 "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God."
Q 7. What denomination does CCAH belong to?
A 7. CCAH doesn't belong to any denomination, although she does neither oppose nor support it. But CCAH is a member of Calvary Chapel Outreaching Fellowships (CCOF), among other over 1,500 calvary chapel churches. Calvary Chapel is a non-denominational Christian church which began in 1965 in Costa Mesa, California. Calvary Chapel's pastor, Chuck Smith became a leading figure in what has become known as the Jesus Movement.
1 Corinthians 1:13 "Is Christ divided? Was Paul Crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?"
Q 8. Whose church?
A 8. CCAH is God's church & Jesus' church, which means that we are living by His Word & Spirit, because God owns the CCAH local church and Jesus bought CCAH with His blood. We neither think nor believe any member/person's church. Consequently, CCAH adopts a theocracy, following His direction, but she neither adopts a democracy nor a monopoly.
2 Corinthians 1:1 "Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, to the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints who are in all Achaia:"
Matthew 16:18b "...I will build My church..."
Q 9. Do you confess the Apostles' Creed during Sunday main services?
A 9. We think the Apostles' Creed as the most effective reference to the Bible compared to any other theological books/references. But it is never deemed as the same authority as the Bible itself, although it was mostly cited from the Bible. So, we don't confess it during the services, even if we believe in the terms of the Apostles' Creed which are within the zone of the authoritative Bible, as expressing fundamental facts of Christian faith. However, sometimes we may sing it as a song during the services.
Q 10. Is CCAH a Protestant or a Catholic church?
A 10. She appears a Protestant church as well as other Calvary Chapel churches. But we were not formed to protest Roman Catholic church or to reform an existing church but by the Spirit to restore to the early church in the balance between the Bible and the Holy Spirit (whole cousel of God & led by the Spirit), stated in the Book of Acts.
Revelation 3:10 "Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth."
Q 11. What is the British style of the Sunday School/Service?
A 11. Without arbitrary separation of their ages, in the Sunday School are elementary, middle/high, and college/career students warmly united to each group and taught by teacher(s) like a traditonal British school or a charter school.
Matthew 19:13-14 "Then little children were brought to Him that He might put His hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven."
Q 12. Are you thirsty for the Word of God and for the Holy Spirit?
A 12. If "Yes," you will be content to go to CCAH since in the Holy Spirit you can read & understand the Word of God by yourself and apply it to your daily life toward His kingdom & righteousness. You may daily have an intimate relationship with the Lord. But if you are thirsty for fun, it will be hard to be content because CCAH is exalting God rather than pleasing men.
Galatians 1:10 "For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ."
